What is the eligibility for OINP 2021?

Ontario is the second largest province in Canada and is surrounded by beautiful lakes and landscapes. Not only that, the province has a rich economy that provides a great destination for immigrants to move permanently.

With a large number of immigration applications received each year, the provincial government here provides an Ontario provincial nominee program to ensure the selection of the most skilled and eligible candidates for its provincial nomination.

Any candidate can apply for provincial nomination through OINP and its various immigration departments:

  • Ontario Express Entry
    • Human Capital Priorities Stream
    • French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream
  • General Category
    • Foreign Skilled Worker with a Job-Offer Stream

Ontario Express Entry is an "extended" stream and very popular immigration process that helps express entry candidates apply for provincial nominations. With the Ontario Express Entry Stream, the OINP Express Entry Pool is able to find skilled candidates based on labor market requirements and profession needs in the region.

The minimum requirements for applying for OINP through Human Capital Priority Stream are as follows:

  • It is mandatory to have a valid express entry profile
  • At list score of CRS 400 points is required. It mainly relies on the Provincial Immigration Officer to determine the minimum CRS points eligible for provincial nomination.
  • Minimum level of work experience depending on whether the candidate has applied for PR visa through FSWP / CEC.
  • • It is important to have an ECA certificate.
  • Must get CLB level 7 / above in all 4 abilities: Reading, Speaking, Writing, and Listening.
  • The intention to stay in the province must be demonstrated
  • Adequate settlement funds must be shown

For more information on OINP, see our page on Ontario PNP.

How do you calculate your OINP points with OINP Points Calculator?

According to above discussion, you must have a valid express entry profile to apply for OINP. To create an Express Entry Profile you need to score a minimum of 67 points out of 100. These points are awarded based on age, work experience, language skills, systematic employment, etc.

For arranged employment, you must get the offer which is based in the province of Ontario. If you receive a job offer from another province, it may contradict your desire to stay in the province and may reject your application.
